Question 1

How much does pallet racking cost in Europe?

Accepted Answer

Pallet racking in Europe costs €50-500 per pallet position in 2026. Selective racking (most common) averages €75-150 per position. Factors affecting price include load capacity (500kg-3000kg), height (up to 12 meters), and installation.

Question 2

What types of pallet racking are available?

Accepted Answer

Main types include: Selective Racking (direct access to each pallet), Drive-In Racking (high-density, LIFO), Push-Back Racking (dynamic storage, FILO), Pallet Flow Racking (gravity-fed, FIFO), and Cantilever Racking (for long items).

Question 3

How do I choose the right pallet racking system?

Accepted Answer

Consider: warehouse dimensions, pallet sizes and weights, inventory turnover rate, forklift types used, and budget. Selective racking suits high SKU variety, while drive-in works for bulk storage of similar items.

Question 4

What is a reach truck?

Accepted Answer

A reach truck is a narrow-aisle forklift with extending forks that can reach into racking. They're ideal for warehouses with high storage density, operating in aisles as narrow as 2.5 meters. Reach trucks can lift loads up to 12+ meters high.

Question 5

Electric vs diesel forklift: which is better?

Accepted Answer

Electric forklifts are better for indoor use (zero emissions, quiet), lower operating costs, and dominate with 50%+ of new European sales due to sustainability requirements. Diesel forklifts are preferred for heavy outdoor work and continuous operation.

Question 6

How much does a forklift cost in 2026?

Accepted Answer

New forklift prices range from €15,000-€80,000 depending on type and capacity. Electric counterbalance: €20,000-€40,000. Reach trucks: €25,000-€60,000. Used forklifts cost 40-60% less. Get quotes from multiple suppliers on LayTech.ai.

Question 8
